Research and Reports
The Pew Center on the States commissions and oversees research, pilot projects and case studies on a broad range of issues as part of our Election Initiatives’ efforts to identify and advance solutions to improve the election system. Reports and research are available on the following issues:
Data for Democracy:
The Pew Center on the States is working to create a culture of evidence- based election administration. Pew advances the study of election information and provides helpful insight for policy makers, election officials, academics and other stakeholders as they consider and examine solutions to improve the election system.
Military and Overseas Voting:
The Pew Center on the States seeks to highlight the challenges military and overseas voters face as they navigate a complex patchwork of state regulations and promote efforts to establish consistent rules for military and overseas voters across all 50-states and nationally.
Voter Registration Modernization:
The Pew Center on the States is committed to working with states and other stakeholders in the election system to identify solutions to modernize the current, outdated voter registration system to ensure a more cost-effective, efficient, accurate and secure system.
Voting Information Project:
The Pew Center on the States recognizes the need to make voting information widely and equally available. Pew partners with technology companies and election officials to develop and implement technology that enables election officials to disseminate official voting information to voters.
Other election issues:
The Pew Center on the States supports research on a broad range of potential election reform solutions. Additional topics include but are not limited to the following: early voting, non precinct place voting, audits and provisional ballots.
