National Institute for Early Education Research Preschool remains the most dynamic segment of the education system, with state-funded programs now serving more than a million children. Spending per child is up and so is the quality of state preschool education. But the picture is not all rosy. Twelve states have no state-funded preschools. | New Study Identifies Three Ways To Lower Pre-K Expulsion Rates

Yale University's Edward Zigler Center in Child Development and Social Policy A new study identifies ways policy makers can reduce preschool expulsion rates. It is based on data from the National Prekindergarten Survey (NPS) of 4,800 classrooms in the 40 states that fund prekindergarten. The NPS was funded by grants from the Foundation for Child Development and the National Institute for Early Education Research, with funding from The Pew Charitable Trusts.
